Unlike Grant Morrison's contemporaneous work on Batman (Volume 1), these stories are largely standalone, chronicling some of the more significant cases Batman and Robin encounter in the wake of One Year Later - among them a fashion-obsessed crime ring, the Riddler's 'reinvention' into a private detective, the Penguin's restoration of the Iceberg Lounge, and a Christmas rampage from the Joker. The reformed detective Riddler, the recurring appearances of Zatanna and the new female Ventriloquist are very cool.

Dini's run has a more consistent tone that doesn't go to either extreme. Williams III, Don Kramer, and Wayne Faucher also features one fill-in by Royal McGraw, with art by Marcos Marz and Luciana del Negro. Morrison's run is silly in one issue, then it's dark in the following issue. Id go for Dini if only cuz i know Grants material will always be easily available, im not sure Dini's omnibus will ever get reprints after going out of print. He wrotte my favorite Joker story ever and made Hush an actually interesting character.
